How SoF upgraded its technological stack and scaled its international team with Olby

Scholars of Finance is a bold initiative that helps develop the next generation of financial executives. Their mission is to inspire future leaders to act from a firm grounding in principles and ethics. Currently established in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and New Jersey, the company has made a significant impact to date, empowering 3500+ students, with more than 670 professionals involved in 61 universities.

Assessment and Consulting

One of the School of Finance's major challenges was that its initial product version was built using third-party applications and low-code initiatives. While their company gained traction, with the number of cohorts and students increasing, the product faced scalability bottlenecks and lacked customization flexibility. And this is where Olby stepped in.

First, Olby played a pivotal role by conducting a consultation to understand the solutions and technological stack the company needed to implement to optimize its product. Secondly, Olby sought a team of professionals who would put the embedded plan into action.

Team Building and Future Plans

We started with one senior software engineer and scaled up their team later on. Early efforts involved refining existing technologies using the company's tools. Database reorganization was undertaken to enhance operational speed substantially. The tech knowledge of fast-paced businesses, tech tools, and team building brought by Olby took Scholars of Finance tech decisions to the next level. As a result, the company has gained significant productivity in a remote and global environment.

Now, the plan is to revamp the entire software structure with proprietary code, emphasizing usability and user experience.

The team is focused on rewriting the product in technologies such as React/Next.js, which will provide greater autonomy, improve product performance, and offer more freedom and control over appearance, and an overall enhanced user experience.
